1. Cherokee Steak House

Originally opening in 1958 as a fish house, the Cherokee Steak House, located in Lebanon, has been family run by the Cunningham family for the last three decades. Its reasonable priced dining and hometown atmosphere has made this steakhouse a local family favorite.

2. Demo's Steak & Spaghetti House

Originally opened in 1989, Demos offers 4 locations in the Middle Tennessee Area. Demo's is another locally family run business, in it's third generation, and offers plenty of southern hospitality with its family friendly atmosphere.

3. Fleming's

Flemings is another steakhouse chain that originally opened in California, while the location in Nashville offers one of the most extensive wine list in town, it lacks ambience with it's open kitchen design and it's service can vary greatly week to week. While the steaks are great, some of the other menu items are lacking as is the southern hospitality that Nashville is known for.

4. Hermitage Steak House

Independently owned and in business for over 20 years, the Hermitage Steak House is as unpretentious as one can get. They offer a cozy rustic atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, steaks are great, potatoes are humongous, and the salad bar is massive so go with a big appetite.

5. Jimmy Kelly's

Jim Kelly's, a third generation family run business, originally opening it's doors in 1934 and by maintaining it's excellent standards of food and friendly service, it has remained one of Nashville's favorite Steakhouse's for decades.

Originally opening around 1870 as a pharmacy, manufacturing company, and a wholesale drug company on each of its' three floors, Merchants is the best place to dine in Nashville when you want a historic atmosphere and a good steak too.

10. Stock-Yard

The Stock-Yard restaurant opened its doors in 1979 and is recognized as one of the top ten steakhouses in the United States. The original building housed the former Nashville Union Stockyard, and offers a historical atmosphere with plenty of ambience, but over the years has lost some of it's charm, but not the pink marble floors, since Buddy Killen, Music Row king, and restaurateur Mario Ferrari left the scene.

11. Sperry's Restaurant

Sperry's opened its doors in Nashville in 1974 and its owners have a long history of restaurateurs in their family, dating back over 100 years. Sperry's has recently expanded and has a new restaurant, just south of Nashville in the Cool Springs Area.

12. Nick & Rudy's (closed)

Gaylord Opryland veterans Nick Nikolaiczyk and Rudy Caduff opened Nick & Rudy's doors in 2000. With over 75 years experience between the two, Nick and Rudy offer thier guests a wonderful country club atmosphere with plenty of Nashville Hospitality. Their Oysters Rockefeller have become almost legendary to the locals, as has their selection of delicious steaks.
