Universal is Out and RCA is In as New Label for Nashville Star
According to Variety: "Nashville Star," USA Network's talent contest for country music performers, has inked a deal with the RCA Label Group to release the debut album from the winner of season four. The winner will record for one of RLG's three labels -- Arista Nashville, BNA or RCA Records. RCA also will have right of first refusal to sign the other nine finalists.

Nashville Star selects 43 Contestants for Regional Finals
The Nashville Star production team narrowed the field of contestants down to 43 hopefuls, who will compete at the Regional Finals for a shot at being country music's next sensation. Regionals will take place in Houston on Jan. 3-4 and Nashville on Jan. 6-7. From there, the final cast will be chosen on Jan. 10 and prepped for the season premiere on Tuesday, March 7, 2006.
