Nashville Star Season 4 - Week 8 The Season Finale

Well Nashville it's time to find out who your 2006 Nashville Star will be.

The show opened with Cowboy Troy along with Big & Rich singing his song My Last YeeHaw. Following the performance Big & Rich joined Anastasia and Phil as judges for the final show.

Casey Rivers kicked it off for the 3 remaining contestants with Your Cheatin Heart. Phil told Casey that he is "the best true singer ever on the show period." Anastasia told Casey he was one of her favorites and was the best student of the season. Big & Rich said "you got some pipes and you are a better singer than Chris Young".

Nicole Jamrose belted out Are You Ready For A Thing Called Love. Anastasia said "Cheryl Crowe and Mary Chapin Carpenter paved the road for you take the baton and run with it." Big & Rich said she's a continued inspiration. Also told her "make Indiana where you are from and Nashville where you live." Phil chimed in and told her she has a great voice.

Chris Young sang Drinkin Me Lonely. Phil told Chris he was put on earth to do this. He's a great singer and going to do incredible in his career. Anastasia told Chris "if America allows you , you have the ticket to climb Mt. Everest. Big & Rich said Chris had gotten his hat and guitar problem fixed and he has the "x" factor. They would love to tour with him and he's a great addition to country music and Nashville.

After the 3 performances it was time to eliminate one contestant. Nicole Jamrose was voted off and it was down to Chris Young and Casey Rivers. Jason Aldean along with the 10 original contestants from the show sang Jason's hit Hicktown. Phil Vassar also performed his new single Last Day Of My Life. Casey & Chris teamed up and sang Tim McGraw's I Like It I Love It

You could feel the tension and anticipation in the air as Casey and Chris waited for Cowboy Troy to read the name that was in the envelope he was holding. After making the contestants stress for a short time Troy opened the envelope to reveal that Chris Young was the new 2006 Nashville Star winner.

You have never seen or heard a crowd go as crazy as they did after Chris's name was read. Thanks Nashville for helping to make season 4 of Nashville Star another huge success. Nashville is truly blessed with some new talent. Congratulations to RCA recording artist Chris Young for winning the contest, we look forward to a long and prosperous career with you!!
