Wynonna took the stage first and performed her smash hit No One Else On Earth to a packed Acuff theater. This week's guest judge was multi Grammy winner David Foster.
Last week Kristen McNamera sang How Do I Live Without You and well now she will find out, as she was the contestant this week that was voted off the show. Anastasia said America made a mistake and sent the wrong contestant home. Phil said with only one female left on the show that it's becoming a sausage fest. Kristen took comfort from Wynonna though who told her that she would produce Kristen when she was ready. I apologize now for not having the song titles to all of the contestant's original songs but with some a title was never given.
Jared Ashley sang If You Ain't Got A Redneck Get You One. According to Phil Vassar the whole redneck thing is getting old but it was a good rockin song. Anastasia was stunned he survived another show and wasn't the one going home. David Foster said he had good stage presence but didn't sing in the groove and was ahead of the band. Not a bad song but not a good song.
Crowd favorite Chris Young sang a ballad called Drinkin Me Lonely. Wow was the first word from Anastasia as she told Chris his stock just went up and Nashville Star just revealed it's first true artist. Phil was proud of Chris said his was a good, emotional song. David told Chris that he bets Chris would win the contest.
Nicole Jamrose's original song entitled Family Man didn't seem to go over very well with judges. Anastasia told her that people on music row thinks she can become a star and an artist but her song was like a train that never left the station. David actually agreed with Anastasia about the song and said it didn't serve her at all. Phil told Nicole the song didn't have a chorus and you need to leave people singing or humming something and this song didn't do that.
Matt Mason sang Maybe I'm Talkin Foolish. Phil thought it was a good emotional song but couldn't tell the difference between the verse and the chorus. David likes Matt's voice but said the song was boring. Anastasia agreed with David and told Matt to be careful of his song selection next week.
Casey Rivers ended the night with Good Things Gone Better. Anastasia said Casey's big, beautiful, baritone voice deserved better and his song was ba ba ba boring. Phil said he was going to fire his fiddle player for Megan Mullins. Phil thought Casey's song was fun but that the ba da da was probably a guitar lick in the studio and not song lyrics. David said Casey has a really good voice but his song was just average. David also added that he has already chosen whom he thinks will win the show and it won't be Casey.
Be sure to tune in next week when Trace Adkins will perform his song Honky Tonk Badonkadonk and the guest judge will be Patti LaBelle.
