Nashville Star Season 4 - Week 3

The show this week kicked off with Kenny Rogers singing Islands In The Stream.
Megan Mullins accompanied Kenny singing Dolly's part of the song. This week's guest judge was WWE champion John Cena.

Jared Ashley sang Somebody Like You and I was bored to be honest. Phil Vassar said Jared is one of the best entertainers on the show. Anastasia agreed with Phil but wants to see more from him. John Cena thought he kicked some serious butt and it was his best performance this season.

Melanie Torres belted out the song Cryin. Phil said she looked great and she hit the money choosing that song. Anastasia said she had a rocky start but had a rock solid ending. Cena thinks she has a runway smile and a great set of pipes.

Casey Rivers sang Your Cheatin Heart and nailed his performance. Phil said WOW and it was a ballsy choice. Anastasia said he gambled and won with the song choice. Cena said he rocked it by himself.

Kristen McNamera was next with This Ones For The Girls. Phil still thinks she is wacky but he loves her. Anastasia said this song brought out the gorgeous voice that Kristen has but she needs to work on movement on the stage. Cena had a different opinion. He said she looks good but he didn't believe her performance.

Chris Young chose a ballad this week. Keith Whitley's Don't Close Your Eyes. Phil said Chris sang the hell out of the song. Anastasia loved Chris's new hat and said his voice was smooth as Tennessee whiskey. John Cena told Chris he took the #1 spot.

Nicole Jamrose performed a not well known song called It's Over. At least I think that is the title. I apologize if that is the incorrect title. Anastasia thought Nicole's performance was brilliant all the way around. John Cena loves her balance of music and family. He also loved her passion. Phil said WOW, awesome and keep on doing what your doing.(Nicole's song has been identified by one of our viewers as Can't Let Go-Lucinda Williams-Thanks Julia)

Matt Mason was the final performer of the night. He sang The Ride and also nailed it. Phil said he was badass. John Cena said he was a certified bad ass and had stepped up his performance this week. Anastasia loves his taste in music and said he deserves a record deal.

As you know one contestant is voted off every week. This week we had to say goodbye to Monique LeCompte. Good luck Monique!!
