Ms.Duke,
I am thinking of relocating to Nashville. I was wondering what the Jazz & Blues scene is like.
Are there many clubs? Where are they located? Someone had told me they were in Printer's Alley, is that true? Are there a lot of local jazz & blues musicians?
Thank you for your help!!
Yes, there are a few jazz n blues clubs located in and near Printers Alley including B.B. Kings and Bourbon Street Blues n Boogie Bar as well as at least a dozen or more other venues that host jazz and blues music on a regular basis. There is also a big Jazz/Blues scene in nearby Murfreesboro Tn. Annually, there are also about 5 or 6 local Jazz Festivals in the area too.
As you can imagine there are a lot of musicians in Nashville and even though I am not a performer, I have found out throurgh the years that "paying gigs" are more difficult to come by in Nashville than in other areas of the country due to the overflow of performers. Most musicians come to Nashville for the creative atmosphere rather than the pay and yet, I've also found that there is always a place for a performer to entertain.
On the good side, Nashville has many opportunities for someone in the accounting field, it always has.
