Question: Do You have any more photos of Carousels?

Dear Jan, I found several photos on you have, of the carousel that was at Music Valley Drive Amusement Park--thus--making You my hero!
Do You have any more photos of this?? I am researching this, the "Harvey's Carousel" from the late 40's and 50's Harvey's Department Store.
Would love any photos and history You could provide me. I am a huge About.com fan--get about 10 or 12 of the various newsletters.
Thanks so much.

Answer: Hi, No, sorry but I only took the two listed. The Music Valley Drive Park is now closed but you might be able to get more information and photos from them, I think that the Hobbs Family owned and ran it.
Honestly I haven't seen many photos of the Harvey's carousel over the years but I would check with the Nashville Archives and see if they have some.
From what I remember the carousel was located in Harvey's Monkey Bar Restaurant, and it also included some real live monkey's in cages.
If you're researching carousels of Nashville I think there have been several over the years:
-Glendale Park -Harvey's (located in the Monkey Bar Restaurant) -Opryland (on the lake) -Red Grooms (located at Riverfront Park) -Music Valley Drive Park

and there is a new one that opened up at the Nashville Zoo too.

If you have another question or if you want me to update, add to, or edit my current answer, please feel free to e-mail me anytime!
Thanks for visiting Nashville.about.com,
Jan Duke
