Question: Relocation to Nashville
What's Nashville like for a single woman in her forties? For someone who has lived in major cities all her life? Can you point me to any information/resources that may help with my decision? I hear great things about the city but I thought I'd ask the expert.
Thanks for any direction you can give me.

Answer: That's a tough question... I've a been out of the single scene for over a decade. I will say that Nashville is a whole lot safer for a single lady than the big cities, which is one of the reasons I moved to Nashville. There are plenty of great guys running around Middle Tennessee (I found one). You have to know where to look for the good nice guys, but they are out there.
Nashville's culture and atmosphere is slower paced than the big cities and that is kind of hard to get used to, but the people are super friendly which makes entering the social scene an easier task.
There's always something going on in Nashville for singles and just about everyone else for that matter.
You can find weekly wine tastings, art gallery openings, sports, benefits and of course, the music going on all the time and everywhere. If you don't like country music there's also plenty of Rock and Classical music too. There's also a big Christian Music following, as many of the labels are located in Nashville and there's currently a big jazz movement going on now.
There are several groups and organizations in Nashville that promote singles. The one I'm most familiar with is Nashville Party.com They offer weekly gatherings/parties around Nashville.
Take a look around the Nashville.about.com site there are plenty links to everything Nashville and the communities.
Here is a link to our dating resources and you might want to take a look a some of the other Nashville related websites that I've gathered up. Many of these guides don't live in the Nashville area, but these sites are still full of some great information.
Don't forget to take a peek at our events calendar to see if Nashville will be able to keep a big city lady busy enough.
In closing I'll add:
I've lived all over the world, including several big cities, but when it was recommended that I move to Nashville, I literally cringed at the thought...but I went ahead and came here thinking it could and would be a short stay..Boy, I was wrong and to this day I'm still happy that I was open-minded enough to take the chance. The only thing I truly miss is having a beach nearby, being able to walk everywhere, and sometimes, the sounds of the city. What I like the most ; the friendly people, the landscapes (it's green everywhere) and being able to really really see the stars at night.
