Light - Bruce Munro
Ongoing EventInternationally renowned British artist Bruce Munro will exhibit Light, an exhibition of 10 breathtaking, large-scale outdoor and indoor lighting installations coupled with indoor sculptures, at Nashville's Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art from May 24 through November 10, 2013.
While hosting Light, Cheekwood will offer extended hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings until 10:00 p.m. to share the luminous beauty of the exhibition in its most stunning state: under the night sky. On First Tennessee Fridays, Cheekwood will open its Pineapple Room Restaurant for dinner, host several bars with drinks and snacks throughout the property, and feature live music to enhance visitors’ Light experience.

Permanent Residents
Ongoing EventCheekwood’s Museum of Art will celebrate its long tradition of collecting with its Permanent Residents exhibition, presenting selected treasures by American artists whose works have become part of the museum’s extensive collection of paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, and decorative arts. The exhibition will include Cheekwood’s renowned portrait miniature collection and works by artists including Robert Henri, George Luks, Andy Warhol, Jamie Wyeth and many more. Special galleries will be dedicated to two Nashville-born artists: painter-sculptor Red Grooms and African-American sculptor William Edmonson. March 31 2012 - August 25 2013
Radio Romance
Ongoing EventRadio Romance: Mainstream Country in the 1980s highlights a collection of artists that heavily incorporated pop influences into their country music. The exhibit features revolutionary pop-country artists Barbara Mandrell, Janie Fricke, Eddie Rabbitt, Steve Wariner and more. The exhibit is located on the 2nd floor inside the “Sing Me Back Home” exhibit and will run through April 2015.
Reba: All the Women I Am
Ongoing EventWith an unparalleled resumé that spans more than four decades and several entertainment genres, Reba is country music’s ultimate Renaissance woman. The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will pay tribute to this inimitable artist with the cameo exhibition “Reba: All the Women I Am,” which opens in the museum’s East Gallery on August 9 and runs through June 8, 2014. “Reba: All the Women I Am” will be accompanied by an ongoing series of programs throughout the exhibit’s duration.
Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles
Ongoing EventInspired by the Frist Center's historic Art Deco building, Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles will feature spectacular automobiles and motorcycles that exemplify the classic elegance, luxurious materials and iconography of motion characterizing vehicles influenced by the Art Deco style. Fascination with automobiles transcends age, gender and environment. While today automotive manufacturers often strive for economy and efficiency, there was a time when elegance reigned. Influenced by the Art Deco movement that began in Paris in the early 1920s and propelled to prominence in 1927 with the success of the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, automakers embraced the sleek new streamlined forms and aircraft-inspired materials, creating memorable automobiles that still thrill all who see them. The exhibition will feature 18 automobiles and three motorcycles from some of the most important collectors and collections in the United States. Sensuous Steel is organized for the Frist Center by Guest Curator Ken Gross, a noted authority on automobiles who is the former director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Steve Hall & Shotgun Red Show
Ongoing EventSteve Hall and the Shotgun Red Show offer guests a unique blend of humor and country music that audiences have loved for nearly three decades. The show, starring the famed Shotgun Red puppet and a seven-piece band, has proven to be one of the most animated and interactive productions to cruise the Cumberland River in recent years.Each cruise ticket also includes a mouth-watering, family-style lunch prepared by the General Jackson's executive chef.
Stop. Take Notice!
Ongoing EventTeens Explore Community Issues in Stop. Take Notice! The Frist Center for the Visual Arts will open an interactive exhibition inspired by the work of Nashville area teens who participated in Stop. Take Notice!, a community art project launched by Frist Center educators in September 2012. Teens from the Martha O'Bryan Center, Nashville Public Library's Main Branch Teen Center, the Oasis Center, and the YMCA Latino Achievers created four artworks under the instruction of local teaching artists that were then installed at each of the community partner organizations. Teaching artists Chris Cheney, Michael Lapinski and Laura Wallace will reinterpret the teens' artworks in the Frist Center's Conte Community Arts Gallery for this exhibition, which will be on view from April 26 through August 25, 2013.
