Meharry Medical College Profile :

Meharry Medical College is the largest independent historically black medical college in the nation. One of its main goals is to educate minority physicians who in turn will care for the medically underserved. In 1998, it formed a partnership with Vanderbilt University entitled the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance.

Meharry Medical College is situated on over 26 acres of land that includes 20 buildings and an outdoor Amphitheater that seats over 1,000. Annual enrollment is normally under 1000 students.

Chronological Timeline:

Meharry Medical College was originally founded in 1876, as the Medical Department of Central Tennessee College of Nashville. In 1900, it became Walden University. Fifteen years later it separated from the University and took on its current name.
