The Bottom Line
Shake that Twang is a well-rounded country album with no filler or fluff to be found, in fact, I found the entire album able to make good use of an extensive amount of my emotions.
I came away feeling elated that an Indie artist has once again shown me what I’ve really always known… that the creativity and talent of an Indie should never be underestimated.

Guide Review - Honkytonk Hitman - Shake That Twang
'Shake That Twang' is Mike Rodger's fourth CD, and we think it's his best yet. 'Shake That Twang' showcases the many facets and depth that encompasses the talent of this Honkytonk Hitman. For his fourth CD Mike has quit using his real name and is now recording and performing under his moniker Honkytonk Hitman. Mike’s recording name is not the only thing that has changed with his new CD either.
While there's plenty of beer drinkin', lovin', and leavin' songs that Mike's fans have come to expect, including 'Beer Cold Heart', 'Your Lonesome Ends With Me', and 'Gold Ring', there's also a very new side to be seen of the Honkytonk Hitman too. One will experience an intimate and emotional feel in several of the tracks including 'God Needed You Too' which will no doubt send chills up and down your entire body. This emotional song will leave even the toughest of cowboys with misty eyes and expect full-blown tears especially when you find out when it was written and whom it was dedicated to.
Another emotional song that tells a sorrowful and twisting tale is 'John 3:16', a well-written song with co-writers Chris Young and Larry Wayne Clark. It is reminiscent to the Randy Travis song Three Wooden Crosses.
On the other hand you will also get a good dose of country rock too, with 'Good Man with Bad Intentions', 'I Won't Back Down'and 'Shake That Twang'. The title song Shake That Twang was co-written with Dean Miller and will leave you with no choice but to tap your feet and get up and dance.
Not only did the Honkytonk Hitman write and or co-write every track, but he also produced his new CD too - now that takes some real talent. Make sure to read the credits and fine print on the CD because you will most likely recognize a name or two like Dean Miller and Marcus Mullins along with a few others too.
