Staying true to his roots. That is what Nashville Recording Artist Buddy Jewell is doing. Ever since winning the Inaugural Nashville Star, the Arkansas native has stayed true to himself, his family, and his fans. Singing songs that reach deep into the soul is what Jewell is noted for most. The song that he is most noted for is a song he wrote himself, "Help Pour Out The Rain". This is a song that brought the house down as Jewell was on Nashville Star, and it the song that pushed him to the finals, and ultimately the win.
Though Jewell is currently a independent artist, his fans have remained true to him, and he has remained true to them. Taking the time to attend one of Jewell's concerts is a must, and if you were not a fan before you attended, you will be by time you leave.
This gentle, soft spoken man is an artist who makes sure he is in touch with his fans. From visiting with them before and after shows, to "hanging out" with them on the BoMb, or Buddy's Official Message Board, Jewell makes his fans feel more like friends than fans.
Jewell does have a new CD out for you to enjoy. Presented by Diamond Dust records, this CD features 13 phenomenal songs by "DaManHimself", as Buddy is known on the BoMb.
The CD kicks off with a song titled "Country Enough" that gives the message to not judge a book by its cover. The "Man in Black" is mentioned in this song, and I'm quite sure Mr. Cash himself would be proud.
"The Southern Side of Heaven" is a song about the Civil War Era. It pays tribute to men on both sides of the conflict, and reminds us that God did not see Blue or Grey, and that men on both sides fought and died for what they believe in. It also points out the fact that some fought because they wanted to, some because they needed to, and some because they had to.
"The Wheels Turn Slow" is a fan favorite. Also known as the "Caterpillar Song", it is about a small, country town that many of Jewell's fans from around the World have come from. A tribute to small towns who take their time doing things and going about day to day life, this song is one of Jewell's best ever.
"Need A Little Country" is a song about being in a big city, away from the country way of life. Jewell sings about wanting a country atmosphere in the big city. Anyone who has come from the country, and is living in the big city is sure to appreciate this one.
"This Ain't Mexico" is a bold statement by Jewell. If one listens to the words correctly, they will see the Jewell is all for the advancement of people around the World who chose to make America their home, as long as they do it legally. Those who chose not to follow the rules and guidelines set by the United States of America in order to live and prosper here may be offended by this song, but those who are here legally should not be.
"Second Chance Of A Lifetime" is a song about thinking you have lost that "special" somebody, only to find that later on in life you got a second chance to make things up with them. Anyone who has ever lost the love of their life only to get them back later in life, will appreciate this song.
"The Ones I Love The Most" is a song a about making memories and sharing your life with the ones you love the most. All of us in life face those times when things are good, bad, easy, and tough, and there are always loved ones there the whole way through. This song about making memories is another song from Jewell that is sure to be a fan favorite.
"That Summer Girl" is a song about teenage summer love. We all had them, that one summer that we met someone that we spent the entire summer with, partying, having fun, and making memories. While that summer passed way to fast for all of us, the memories made will stick with us all for the rest of our lives.
"She Loves This Town" is a song about a single mother living in a small town. You know, one of those towns where everybody knows everybody, and their business. Many of us came from a town like that, and no matter how frustrated we may have gotten with that town, we always find ourselves thinking about it, and find ourselves going back there. If you enjoy the simple life, this song is for you.
"No Grease, No Gravy" is a uptempo song by Jewell that will get your blood pumping, but will have you laughing at the same time. For us guys, we know there are certain things you just do not say to your significant other. This song is about what happens when you say it!
" Hillbilly Water " is a song about sneaking around as a young person doing things you were not supposed to be doing, while having fun and praying you didn't get caught. This song is for the "outlaw" side of all of us, and will remind you of doing things you knew you shouldn't have, but did them anyways.
"Leavin' Louisiana (for the Last Time)" is a song about making a final decision to just leave and be done with a certain situation. We all have faced a time or two in life like this, where we had to make a decision to cut all losses, and go on and find something new. It is not always easy to make that decision, but decisions like this do have to be made from time to time in life. This song is another fan favorite, and is certain to be one of your favorites as well.
Overall, Jewell's new CD "Country Enough" is a radio airplay worthy album. With country music fading away from its roots, and starting to lean heavily towards the pop scene, it is nice to see an artist who continues to honor what true country music stands for.
