Thursday Greased Lightning Riverfront Stages Concert Review
I got to the Riverfront Stages later than planned, but the show was very much worth the wait. We got there in time to see Riccochet. They performed for about 25 minutes and did all their big hits. They are just getting better with time.
Next up was Cooter Graw. This group hails from Texas and their music shows that influence. This is a band to watch for, as they are HOT. During the performance, he played a tin vest much like a washboard. They had the crowd worked up and are truly worth going to see. Billy Currington took the stage next. He sang several songs off his cd and I did enjoy him.
Rachel Proctor was really raging and beautiful. This gal was right on during the whole show and what a set of pipes that gal has! Why isn't she getting the recognition she so rightly deserves?
This was my the first time to see Shannon Lawson and he had the crowd stomping and clapping with his bluegrass music. This man is going to go down in history as one of the bluegrass greats. One of the best acts of the day by far.
Next it was Rhonda Vincent's turn. Beautiful and perfect pitch as usual. She proved why she's won so many awards. Talent is not the right name for it. An angel singing is more close to her performance.
Now Jeff Bates, what can I say about his show. This was the 48th time I saw Jeff perform since last July 4th. He was perfect. Jeff is one of the best things that ever happened to country music. His music hits the men as well as the women. When he did Conway Twitty's "I'd Love to Lay You Down" He had the whole crowd going!!! He is well worth the time and effort to go see.
Sherrie Austin was just as beautiful as ever. When she sang "Streets of Heaven", you could see the tears in the eyes of many of the audience. This Australian gal has what it takes to make a show good. Where has Ty Herndon been? His voice and stage presence is still there. I loved hearing all the hits again.
Tanya Tucker showed the crowd what made her a mega-icon in country music. This was one of the best shows of the day. Tanya truly deserves to be called one of the great ladies of country music.
I left after Tanya was done and did not see King Willie and Eric Heatherly. All in all, this was one of the best fan fair shows I've ever seen and I've been going every year since 1986.
