4. Miscellaneous Sales
Nashville offers celebrity yard and estate sales on a regular basis so there's always a good sale going.
Public sales over the last few years have taken place at the homes of Wynonna, Barbara Mandrell, Jim Reeves, the Wilburn Brothers, Trisha Yearwood, Waylon Jennings, Jesse Colter and Johnny Cash, just to name a few.
Many of these sales will take place during the CMAfest, for no other reason than to give a chance to the many country music fans to own a piece of Country Music History.

In 2005, the Berenice Denton Estate Sales scheduled the Skeeter Davis Estate Sale to be held during the CMAfest.
Skeeter Davis was born Mary Frances Penick in Dry Ridge Kentucky in 1931 on December 30th and passed on September 19th of last year in Nashville. Skeeter had battled breast cancer for over 15 years and was a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1959.
Her estate sale ran daily from 9-5 over 5 days (June 8th thru June 12th ) and 1000's of Skeeters Fans and other onlookers showed up to buy a piece of Skeeter history.
We also saw a few museum buyers with their hands full of some of Skeeter's items so we do know that these items will be preserved along with her memory.
Her estate, located in Brentwood at 309 Seward Road, was an unassuming two-story brick colonial style home, estimated at around 2500 square-feet, was filled with her life's story.
Most notably was her massive collection of angels, we've been told that she dated the back of each one along with were it was original bought or given to her.. There were also closets loaded with clothing from sequined designer pieces to items from Kathy Lee Gifford (Wal-Mart). The prices were reasonable and there was plenty of bargaining going on, although over all the signed and signature items were selling for more.
I even bought a few items myself including a wonderful old quilt that I will treasure for years to come and every time it's used on a cold Tennessee night, I will remember that spunky gal and the breath of fresh spring air she brought with her.

My hope is that the many thousands who come to Nashville and attend these yard and estate sales every year will treasure and protect the items they purchase, as they are actually buying a piece of Nashville and Country Music history along with a moment of someone's life.
