CMAfest Coliseum Show Review - Friday Night

Sara Evans & Rascal Flatts

By , About.com Guide

Next up was Sara Evansand she made the fans feel they were watching a movie, she had giant video screens beside and above the stage, with what looked like credits rolling as you would see before and after a movie. Maybe Blake Shelton's & Travis Tritt's excitement was contagious, because when Evans hit the stage, she seemed to be having a great time! She sang several of her biggest hits, opening with "Perfect".
Near the end of 2001, Evans' "Born to Fly" shot to #1. In the spring of 2001, "I Couldn't Ask For More" reached the top of the charts, as well. One year later, the same album produced a 4th #1 with "I Keep Looking".
2001 found Evans as the most nominated artist at the CMA's. She walked away with her 1st trophy for Video of the Year for "Born to Fly". She then began touring with the likes of Alan Jackson, George Strait and Kenny Chesney. She was reaching "Super Star" status.
Evans, the Super Star on stage here tonight, continued romping through her biggest and most popular hits. She went on to perform "I Keep Looking", "Suds in the Bucket", and "Real Fine Place to Start". She chose the song that shot her into super star status to close the show, "Born to Fly".

Rascal Flattsclosed the show tonight and had the entire stadium roaring before the band was even introduced. The screaming fans stood for just about the entire performance.
In just five years and with only three albums under their belt, Rascal Flatts have sold 6 million records. They have been loaded down with awards including 2003 & 2004 CMA's Vocal Group of the Year; 2003, 2004, & 2005 ACM's Vocal Group of the Year; 2004 CMT's Vocal Group of the Year, as well as ASCAP's 2004 Vocal Group of the Year.
They are the National spokesmen for the American Red Cross and had the distinct honor of performing for the President and First Lady.
Sounds like they have been extremely busy over the past 5 years. They attribute much of their success to the fabulous Nashville songwriters.

On with the show…Flatts really got the crowd into it on the first song, "Here's to You". They also performed "Fast Cars and Freedom" and lead singer Gary LeVox was drenched in sweat as he went back & forth from one side of the stage to the other. He even went on down to the front to be near the crowd of fans to touch hands with them. Next, they began "Bless the Broken Road".

Closing out the night was a huge firework display….
