"Celebrate Nashville" as Nashville's government, neighborhoods, organizations, and community groups host a nine month long series of festivities and events commemorating the 200th anniversary of Nashville's government charter.

"Celebrate Nashville" will be celebrating and highlighting, some of the things, that make Nashville unique and special. The Celebrate Nashville Campaign runs from October 1st, 2006 through July 4th, 2007 and will focus on a different theme each month.

February's Theme: Arts & Culture

February 1st
-The Spirit of Nashville
The Spirit of Nashville Collection will be on exhibit January 9th through February 27th in Vanderbilt University's new Ingram Art Center.
-Speed-the-Plow
The Tennessee Repertory Theatre presents Speed-the-Plow by David Mamet at TPAC's Johnson Theater from Feb. 1st through 17th

February 2nd
Ordinary Heroes
Amun Ra Theatre and Actors Bridge Ensemble presents the world premier of "Ordinary Heroes." February 2-25, 2007 at the historic Fisk Memorial Chapel Fisk University

February 3rd
-3rd Annual Tomorrow Fund Art Show
The Art show is being held at the Take 121 Art Gallery located on 121 3rd Avenue South from 6-10 p.m. Art show features seven local artists, including painters, sculptor, photographer, as well as Tomorrow Fund themed pre-produced prints. Entry is free with voluntary donation at the door.
-Walk in the Park
Walk in the Park with Mayor Purcell Shelby Bottoms Greenway at 9 a.m.

February 4th
Scholastic Art Awards Reception
Scholastic Art Awards reception for Silver and Gold Key winners, their teachers and families at Cheekwood's Botanic Hall.

February 8th
-Black History Celebration
Black History Celebration at The Hermitage from 6-8 p.m.
-Spirit of Nashville Reception
Spirit of Nashville Collection Exhibit reception from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
-Radnor Lake Anthology Trio
The Radnor Lake Anthology Trio will present a program of poems and music on Feb. 8th, at 6 p.m. at Davis Kidd Booksellers in the Mall of Green Hills.

February 9th
Black History Month Concert
Christ Church Cathedral Black History Month concert with Jazz musician Rod McGaha at 7:30 p.m.

February 10th
-Strings of Fire
TPAC Family Field Trip series "Strings of Fire" at 2 p.m.
-The Singing Tortoise
Nashville Ballet presents The Singing Tortoise in the Downtown Nashville Public Library at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

February 14th
-Romantic Valentine's Tours
Belle Meade Plantation Romantic Valentine's Tours at 6 p.m. at Belle Meade Plantation in celebration of it's 200th Celebration
-Conference on African-American History
The 26th Annual Conference on African-American History is being held at Tennessee State University/ Floyd-Payne Campus Center from 8:30 a.m. till 3 p.m.

February 16th
Bluebird Café at the Ballet II
Nashville Ballet presents "Bluebird Café at the Ballet II" Featuring Jonell Mosser and Gary Nicholson February 16th-18th

February 17th
Celebration of Life Ceremony
The Third Annual Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at the North West YMCA located at 3700 Ashland City Hwy on Saturday from 3 - 7 p.m.

February 24th
Dancing the Diversity of China
ARTS ACCESS concert series presented by the Global Education Center "Dancing the Diversity of China" featuring teen performers from Shijiazhuang Performing Arts School in Hebei Province, China" Father Ryan High School Center for the Performing Arts 7:30 p.m.

February 25th
-Lenten Choral Evensong and Organ Concert
Christ Church Cathedral Lenten Choral Evensong and Organ Concert at 3:30 p.m.
=My Soul is a Witness
Metro Parks' Theater Division presents "My Soul is a Witness."
