We were surprised to hear that Steve Azar was going to start hosting a benefit concert during the CMAfest, but to tell you the truth and I'm sure to the dismay of Steve Azar fans, I personally didn't know that much about Steve or his music.
Although, I had heard a few friends talk about seeing him perform in the past and I had actually gotten a chance, at a previous CMAfest, to see him fry up a mean dish of spicy fried chicken along with Jon Ashton.

So when I heard about the St. Cecilia Foundations benefit Concert, it peaked my interest and I figured that it was about time to go and see what this chicken frying Mississippi Delta Dude and the St Cecilia Foundation was all about.

To my surprise, when I entered B.B. Kings, I found the entire room, not filled, as expected with a bunch of crazed country fans but a room filled with what seemed to be a ton of friends. Could this be? A Country Musician that actually considered his fans..his friends as well?? Needless to say I was at an utter loss for words.
The entire venue was filled with faithful Steve Azar Fans and when I say filled, I mean, it was standing room only.

Steve kicked off the show with an intro and welcome then followed up with several songs including the fan favorite Highway 61.
Heidi Neufield soon joined in on the fun along with some wickedly good harmonica playing. Let's not forget the great bongos playing by one of Steve's band members.
One of the highlights of the evening was an awesome jam session that took place with Steve and Blue County (consisting of Aaron Benward and Scott Reeves.)
Steve has an incredible voice and is a natural on the stage. I found his style to be soulful and calming with the innate ability to please a crowd immensely.

Many of Steve's friends showed up to help support the St Cecilia Benefit. I was amazed at the diversity of those in attendance. Some of the guests included country musician, Mark Wills; comedian, Wix Wichman; WCW stars Lethal Luther Biggs and the infamous Ray Lloyd, also known in the wrestling world as "The Glacier". While I didn't catch a glimpse of them, it was rumored that actress, Melissa Reeves; actor Gary Valentine and even football star, Jim Kelly were in attendance too..

On a special note:
I was incredibly impressed with the Steve Azar Fans in attendance and found them all to be very warm and welcoming.

About the St. Cecilia Foundation:
