Chris Young Fan Club Party : Hats, Flowers, and Drinkin Me Lonely

The fan club party of the newly crowned Nashville Star, Chris Young was held during the CMA Music Festival on Friday morning at the Global Cafe on Broadway. The event started at 8:00 am and ended at approximately 10:00 am. Chris was scheduled to perform on at the Greased Lightning Riverfront stage immediately following the fan club party at 10:45 am.

Upon arriving the Chris Young fan club members and guest were greeted at the door by some of Chris' helpers. Tickets were taken and names were checked. After making their way to the second floor members got an opportunity of a meet and greet along with a continental breakfast.

Snapping cameras and drying ink was in abundance during the meet and greet with Chris. While the end of the meet and greets were taking place the crowd was honored with a performance by Chris' grandfather, Richard Yates. Chris' grandfather has been instrumental and a major influence in his desire in his dream as a country music artist. Before Chris took the stage several door prizes were given out, including a couple "Peter Grimm" hats.

After Chris finished his meet and greet he made his way to the stage for an acoustic performance for all of his fans. He sang some covers and some originals, including the haunting "Drinking Me Lonely." At the party he announced the new single would be "Center of My World" a song he co-wrote with David Lee Murphy. (Since this announcement the label has decided to release "Drinking Me Lonely.")

A couple of requests were made, one of which was "Let it Rain." This beautiful ballad has been a favorite among many from one of his independent cd's.

During the set he present four individuals with flower bouquets including fan club president Terri Thompson. He also thanked everyone that had supported during Nashville Star.Chris has officially signed with RCA.

After finishing his set he said his goodbyes and was escorted out the door to the Riverfront stage where more fans were waiting for him to perform. Many from the fan club party quickly made their way to the Riverfront to watch him perform.

This reporter was one of them. It was awesome sitting far back and hearing the entire audience singing along with him during "Drinkin' Me Lonely." How many stars who don't have a record out yet can say the crowd was singing along with them at a major performance like the CMA Music Festival? Just proves he is the REAL Nashville Star!
