With all of these family orientated events and activities, the CMAfest has began attracting a younger more diverse crowd, some barely out of diapers. This inclusion of family events and activities will no doubt increase and draw many who would otherwise not even contemplate the CMA Country Music Festival as a viable family vacation option.
You could really see that many parents have chosen the CMAfest as their family's destination, especially those with older tweens and teenagers. The nightly coliseum show was a definite favorite among the teenager crowd. They seemed to really love the freedom of concert going, the photo line and the atmosphere of the coliseum. A big plus for the parents were the overall well-behaved fans and local security, which immediately set parents at ease. The policies and guidelines for the nightly shows are very strictly adhered to and, although you will stumble across a rowdy bunch, the overall atmosphere is one of great excitement and fun - a perfect introduction to concerts for the young teenager.
The twenty-one and over crowd can be seen out in full force and while they usually tend to gravitate more to the nightly events like the Nightly concerts at the coliseum and the After Hours Parties going on after 11pm around the downtown area, you will also see them amassing at the Riverfront Stages during the daytime hours.
The Baby-boomers are still returning every year to the CMAfest and seem to already have their schedules down to a fine art upon arrival. They tend to know exactly what they want to see and do which includes spending time gathering autographs in the Wrangler Exhibit Hall and attending many of the benefit shows happening around town including, of course, the Grand Ole Opry.
It's truly amazing to see how so many different age groups can come and blend in together so well, all retaining their own identity and space at the same time, and all having the time of their lives.
Over the CMA Country Music Festival's thirty something years of existence it is still evolving and growing every year. Overall, the changes and choices CMAfest has made over the last five years have been good for Nashville and Country Music Fans alike. There's no doubt that one can expect to see the CMAfest continue to grow and expand in the years ahead bringing with it more fun and festivities to Nashville's visitors and locals alike.
