City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game Photos

On June 8th the 16th annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game Challenge took place at Greer Stadium. Celebrities started arriving at 11:15 for the 1:05 game time. Before the game the stars signed autographs and posed for pictures with their fans.

The two teams this year were The Grand Ole Opry team and the Blair Garner After Midnight team. Vince Gill headlined the Opry team and was joined by Little Big Town, Megan Mullins, Rio Grand, Rachel Proctor, Cowboy Troy and Nashville Star winner Chris Young.

The Blair Garner team consisted of Jeff Bates, Blue County, Keith Anderson, Chris Cagle, Chad Brock and Chely Wright to name a few. Vince proved once again that he has a soft spot for the ladies by pretending to catch balls and then throw them to the wrong base. What a guy huh?

I don't know how Kimberly from Little Big Town performed that night at the stadium after taking a hard hit to her throat by a wayward softball. Fans were also treated, at one point, to Scott Reeves of Blue County doing cartwheels down the first base line on his way to the outfield.

Softball was not the only thing going on that day. Fans were chosen to participate in a dizzy bat race, and a water balloon toss game too.

During the last inning of the game, the Opry team led by a Minnie Pearl impersonator joined hands in a circle and played ring around the rosy and then showed off their dance moves. If you were lucky enough to attend the game you saw some of these moves. Vince Gill's moves consisted of sitting down on a chair.

The game ended with the Opry team beating the Blair Garner After Midnight team by a score of 8-7. Great game everyone. See you next year!!
