Buddy Jewell and Fans Enjoy a Very Intimate Setting

Buddy and his fans enjoyed a very intimate setting at the historic Belcourt Theater early Sunday morning for his annual Fan Club Party. Once you made it through the door and you presented your ticket you were handed your "special" fan club gift, which consisted of a small picture frame that resembled two puzzle pieces. At the top of the frame one said "Buddy Jewell" and the other "2006." One was yellow and one was blue.

A light breakfast was served which consisted of huge muffins, cinnamon rolls, fruit, beverages, and coffee. "Damanhimself", as he is called on his official message board was back behind the counter serving coffee to everyone.

Making your way into the theater you had your choice of any seat. Any seat was a good seat. Not long after everyone got settled into their seats, Buddy and his band member Kevin took the stage for an acoustic set. Buddy performed a few "hits" along with several NEW songs.

Set List:
Lacey's Song (Help Pour Out the Rain)
Sweet Southern Comfort
Times Like These
If She Were Any Other Woman
Wichita Falls Woman
Country Enough
Ones I Love the Most
Good and Gone
Southern Side of Heaven
What This Country's Coming To
Please Come to Boston

Wichita Falls Woman" is from one of his past independent cd, "One in a Row". The song was requested by a couple of his fans from Pennsylvania. (This is one of this reporter's favorite songs.) During the set he updated everyone on the status of his music career.

He said he has 3 options. 1. He has a label that is very interested in him and at that time he was going to record 3 songs for them to review. 2. He has several independent labels that are VERY interested in him and he is VERY interested in them. And... 3. Start his own label. It's been reported that he will make an official announcement concerning this in the very near future.

Before each of his new songs he talked a little about each one. When he came to "Ones I Love the Most", he said this song he wrote the week before his fathers death. It became a very emotional moment as Buddy stopped and wiped the tears from his eyes. He then sang the song and afterward he got a standing ovation from everyone. There wasn't a dry eye in the place. "What This Country's Coming To" is a sort of patriotic song; it is his views on the state our country is in today. Very poignant which many agreed with his views. (I am told that he got a great reception on this song at the Riverfront stage later in the morning.)

After the set Buddy gave out several door prizes including a "prototype" hat that a hat manufacturer will be making exclusively for Buddy. These will be available to purchase as part of his merchandise at future concerts.

Next up was a question and answer period with fans being able to ask him questions. At the end he gave a shout out to a special little boy who lives in Kansas, Andy D. Andy has spina bifida and has an ongoing "Tag Your It" game with Buddy and his fans. Andy was on the phone listening the entire time and Buddy had everyone say "Hi Andy" along with "Tag Your It." This was a very special moment for this little boy. If you want to read more about Andy click here.

After the acoustic set and Q&A the line started for photos and autographs. Each person got his or her own "moment" with da-man-himself. When the last person had their meet and greets Buddy left to go perform at the Riverfront stages. Once there he performed "Lacey's Song (Help Pour Out the Rain)", "Sweet Southern Comfort", "Country Enough", "What This Country's Coming To", and "Leavin' Louisiana".
