"Celebrate Nashville" as Nashville's government, neighborhoods, organizations, and community groups host a nine month long series of festivities and events commemorating the 200th anniversary of Nashville's government charter.

"Celebrate Nashville" will be celebrating and highlighting, some of the things, that make Nashville unique and special. The Celebrate Nashville Campaign runs from October 1st, 2006 through July 4th, 2007 and will focus on a different theme each month.

April Theme: Sports, Parks & Recreation

April 1st
Hidden Histories
Join the Downtown Nashville Public Library as they feature “Hidden Histories: The Lives of Women in Nineteenth Century Nashville” A photographic display, located in the courtyard gallery, that tells the stories of everyday women who lived in Nashville more than 100 years ago. This free exhibition opens on March 30th and will be on display until June 15th.

April 5th
"Design Nashville: How UT is Reshaping Music City"
University of Tennessee National Alumni Association Nashville Chapter Spring meeting focusing on "Design Nashville: How UT is Reshaping Music City" through architecture and planning. Professor T.K. Davis and architect Kem Hinton will be presenting. The event is being held at Nashville Civic Design Center and is open to the public.

April 6th
Parthenon Echoes Concert Series
Parthenon Echoes Concert Series begins with music from the Otter Creek Woodwind Quintet at 6 p.m. in Centennial Park. The concert is free and open to the public.

April 7th
-Walk in the Park
Walk in the Park with Mayor Purcell Richland Creek Greenway at 9 a.m.
-Richland Creek Run
Inaugural Richland Creek Run, a five-mile celebrating the opening of the new Richland Creek Greenway. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Cohn Adult Learning Center, 4805 Park Avenue.

April 12th
-Jammin’ to Beat
Jammin’ to Beat the Blues concert Benefits the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee Ryman Auditorium.
-Southern Women’s Show
12th-15th The 21st Annual Southern Women’s Show is being held at the Nashville Convention Center from March 12th thru March 15th.

April 13th
Parthenon Echoes Concert Series
The Parthenon Echoes Concert Series features Fern Hill String Quartet at 6 p.m. in Centennial Park. The concert is free and open to the public.

April 14th
-Get on Greenways Day
Get on Your Greenway is an event designed for the public to discover newly built greenway trails and to promote healthier lifestyles by walking, biking, or skating on a greenway, will feature six new greenway trails
-Hermitage Spring Plant Sale
Held at The Hermitage from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
-Celebrate Edgefield
Celebrate Edgefield: Finding Our Common Ground Project Tree Planting at Warner School 626 Russell St., Begins at 8:00 am.

April 15th
Edgefield Baptist Church Celebration
Edgefield Baptist Church will be celebrating its 140th Anniversary and the 100th birthday of their building. The church located at 700 Russell Street in historic Edgefield Activities will include a worship service, a luncheon, and a celebration service and opening of the cornerstone at 1 p.m.

April 17th
“History with a Twist”
“History with a Twist” is being held at the hermitage and hosted by the Young Jacksonians running from 5-7 p.m.

April 20th
-Christ Church Cathedral Organ Concert
Concert will be featuring John Scott,and begins at 8 p.m.
-Parthenon Echoes Concert Series
The concert will feature recorder music by the Centennial Recorder Consort, Mon Ami, Callisto and Music City Recorder Quartet from the Linden Corner School. Concert begins at 6 p.m. Free and open to the public.

April 21st
-Earth Day at Centennial Park
Metro Parks celebrates Earth Day at Centennial Park The event is Free and offers Youth Activities, Informational Activities, Environmental Workshops and Music.
-Civil War Nashville Role-Playing Game
Traveller's Rest Plantation & Museum will be presenting, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.,Civil War Nashville Role-Playing Game where vistiors can come and experience Union-occupied Nashville and learn how people lived and survived in Nashville during the Civil War.
-Tour for Life
The North Shore Animal League’s Tour for Life will be held at Metro Animal Control’s facility at 5125 Harding Place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The event will include a performance by Emmy Lou Harris.The event is free and open to the public.

April 22nd
Nashville Week of the Young Child
Nashville Area Association for the Education of Young Children and other community organizations celebrate Nashville Week of the Young Child thru the 28th.

April 25th
-“Qu Yuan- Dance Theater from Chinese Poetry”
The Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville presents “Qu Yuan- Dance Theater from Chinese Poetry” at Ingram Hall, Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music beginning at 7:30 p.m.
-Entirely Entertaining
Belle Meade Plantation's Entirely Entertaining runs from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Tickets are $100 per ticket and reservations are required.

April 27th
-20th Anniversary High Tree Party
Nashville Tree Foundation to honors the winners of the Big Old Tree contest.
-Parthenon Echoes Concert Series
The Parthenon Echoes Concert Series showcases choral music performed by the Trevecca Madrigalians from their recent California Tour. The concert begins at 6 p.m. and is free to the public.

April 27th
“Swan Lake”[
Nashville Ballet presents “Swan Lake” Tchaikovsky’s score performed by the Nashville Symphony. The show runs thru May 19th.

April 28th
-Country Music Marathon
Over 10,000 runners converge on Music City every April, normally held the 3rd weekend of the month, to run in this 26 mile Marathon and the 1/2 mile Marathon. It even comes with roadside bands, and entertainment. It is held in downtown Nashville.
-“Step Afrika!”
ARTS ACCESS concert series presented by the Global Education Center “Step Afrika!” at Father Ryan High School Center at 7:30 p.m.

April 29th
Jazz & Blues Society’s Concert
The Tennessee Jazz & Blues Society’s Concert on the Lawn performance at Belle Meade Plantation starts at 6p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.
