Author, consultant and leading career success speaker Marcus Buckingham captivated the audience at Belmont University's Curb Events Center with a 90+- minute presentation and Q&A session based on the material in his new book, The Truth About You.
The Cambridge-educated Buckingham has become one of the world's leading experts on personal and career development, using his nearly two decades as a senior researcher at Gallup to break through perceptions and notions about personal achievement in examining ways of discovering and prioritizing personal strengths.
With overhead slides using materials from The Truth About You, and using points from other career-enhancement books he has authored over the past decade, Buckingham challenged the audience members - many of whom lined up after the presentation to have their copies of The Truth About You autographed - to focus on their skills and strengths instead of worrying about their weaknesses.
With his British accent and animated stage presence, Buckingham was an engaging speaker whose charming and excitable personality elicited laughs from the Nashville audience even when he wasn't aiming to. An accomplished speaker who is both forthright and sincere, Buckingham obviously believes in what he writes, and seemed genuinely interested in the personal development of the hundreds of people in attendance.
The Truth About You, is published by Thomas Nelson, and is a different direction for this Nashville-based publisher, which is one of the world's largest publishers of Christian titles. The book also includes an enhanced DVD.
