St Jude's Children's Hospital has always been a favorite charity among many of Nashville's local Country Music entertainers, but one fan club has gotten involved and is taking charitable giving to a higher level and has began an online fundraiser on behalf of their favorite musician.
Fans of Buddy Jewell have created a beautiful calendar featuring their own photographs of Buddy Jewell and are donating all of the proceeds, in Buddy's name, to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
Wow! These fans are not only supporting their favorite musician they are supporting their musicians charity! What a great new trend setting concept.
"Charitable giving on behalf of your favorite musician!"
A note from Fans of Buddy Jewell about their Fundraiser
We have all been touched somehow by cancer either
through a loved one or a friend and even a child. We
also know how close St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital is to Buddy's heart. This year, we as fans
have a terrific opportunity to give Buddy a wonderful
Christmas gift, a donation to St. Jude in his name and
a wonderful gift in return to us, his fans... a
beautiful color 2007 Buddy Jewell Calendar.
Keeping track of important dates is easy when you have
12 months of Buddy! Each month is filled with lots of
color photos. These beautiful 12-month wall calendars
are printed by CafePress in full bleed dynamic color
on 100lb text weight, high gloss paper.
All money above the cost of the calendar will benefit
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. So won't you
please help us support the children of St. Jude in
Buddy's honor.
About St Jude and Danny's Dream
More than 50 years ago, Danny Thomas, then a
struggling young entertainer with $7 in his pocket,
knelt in a Detroit church before a statue of St. Jude
Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. Thomas
asked the saint to "show me my way in life."
Throughout the next years, Thomas' career prospered
through films and television, and he became a
nationally known entertainer. He remembered his pledge
to build a shrine to St. Jude.
Danny's Dream... St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital-opened its doors in 1962 and is now
recognized as one of the world's premier centers for
study and treatment of catastrophic diseases in
children. Focusing on pediatric leukemia's, solid tumor
forms of cancer, infectious diseases and biomedical
research, during its first decade of existence, the
hospital's curative therapies and research successes
spread its fame worldwide and helped save the lives of
innumerable children everywhere.
Today's basic and clinical research at St. Jude
includes work in bone marrow transplantation, gene
therapy, chemotherapy, the biochemistry of normal and
cancerous cells, radiation treatment, blood diseases,
resistance to therapy, viruses, hereditary diseases,
infectious diseases, and psychological effects of
catastrophic illnesses.
St. Jude has treated children from across the United
States and from more than 80 foreign countries.
Through striking improvements in the care of pediatric
leukemia's and numerous forms of solid tumors, Thomas'
"little hospital in Memphis"-which now has daily
operating costs of $1,220,004-has brought about
improved health care for children all over the world.
From a promise of "Show me my way in life and I will
build you a shrine" to the fulfillment of his dream,
Danny Thomas lived to see his little hospital become a
beacon of hope for the catastrophically ill children
of the world. Today, Danny's children, Marlo, Terre
and Tony, carry on their parents' work and remain a
driving force in fulfilling their father's mission.
Danny is gone, but his dream lives on.
