In 1964, Loretta Lynn gives birth to twins Patsy and Peggy in Nashville.

August 7th
In 1930, Nashville' begins one of it's longest heat waves in history with four consecutive days with higher than 100 degrees.

August 8th
One of the greatest stars honkytonk stars of country music, Webb Pierce who was best known locally for his silver-dollar studded auto and guitar-shaped swimming pools, was born August 8, 1921.

August 9th
Loew's Theater, located in Downtown Nashville, is destroyed by fire on August 9th, 1967.

August 10th
On Aug. 10, 1831, the 28-year-old William Driver was captain of the ship Charles Doggett gave the US flag it's name of Old Glory.

August 11th
In 1952, Hank Williams is fired from the Opry.

August 12th
Country singer George Hamilton was born in Memphis on August 12th, 1939.
