April 16th
On April 16, 1998 at tornado hit Nashville leaving in it's wake 300 damaged home in East Nashville additional damage included were over a thousand trees, blown down at Andrew Jackson's home, The Hermitage.
April 17th
The adoption of the Tennessee state flag occurred on April 17, 1905, prior to 1905 there was no official state flag.
April 18th
-Former Governor William Blount was born on April 18, 1767, died near Nashville on September 10, 1835 and is currently buried at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville.
-Davidson County was established at the session of the legislature on April 18th, 1783. Davidson, with Nashville as its seat, was named for William Lee Davidson who served in the Revolutionary War and was killed at the Battle of Cowans Pass on February 1, 1781.
April 19th
-Guilford Dudley, Jr. the former president of Life and Casualty Insurance Co. and a celebrated Nashville socialite was named as the Ambassador to Denmark on April 19th, 1969.
-On April 19th, 1960, a crowd of over 3,000 march from Fisk University to the steps of the court house, following the bombing of black leader Alexander Looby's house where Mayor Ben West demands that integration begins.
April 20th
Mayor Phil Bredesen closes Downtown Nashville on Friday, April 17th, 1998 one day after a tornado ravished the area. He reopened the area on April 20th giving time for NES to restore power to over 75,000 home and for workers to remove the debris left by the tornado.
April 21st
Local Politician, James Carroll Napier died in Nashville on April 21, 1940.
April 22nd
The cornerstone of the first public school was laid in South Nashville on April 22nd, 1851.
