He shared, that the song he had written was about the love of his grandparent's, who were married for sixty-two years, and that he had lost them both within the last two years. Brent wore his grandfather's wedding band on a chain. He believes in faithfulness in a relationship. He did well but I enjoyed the energy he put into his song and you could feel he put much emotion into this song as he was strumming an electric guitar to the song he wrote called "The Cold Lonesome Sound". Here are what the judges remarks were:
- Tracy: I love original night. It's not about really whether you can write a hit or not. It's about showing more of yourself. And, I tell you Brent, you have finally loosened up. It was the best performance I've seen of you.
- Billy: Wow, I'm shocked again. I agree with Tracy, and I thought that was your strongest performance. I didn't think it was the strongest song, but I thought you really felt like it when you were singing it and that was great.
- Warren Bros: We are looking for a Nashville Star here. There are plenty of songwriters in Nashville. I just want to tell you. You don't strum a Les Paul. We're guitar players.
I love her voice. It was good to see Mary move more on stage, rather than just standing there. I'd like to see Marty in some color shades of red's, blues to give her a star look. She has beautiful eyes and a smile. I think her confidence level improved a little more tonight. I liked her song " Just About Every Night ". Here are what the judges remarks were:
- Tracy: When you have people like Rodney Crowell, you can get great songs, but you did a better job than last week. You're starting to step it up.
- Billy: I love you onstage. I think you have a great stage presence. But, I will say this for the song ' you know, If I get ten CD's and I can only add 2 songs in one week. It probably wouldn't be one of the songs I'd add.
- Warren Bros: The fact you wrote that song with two of the greatest songwriters in Nashville [co-written with Jeffrey Steele and Al Anderson], so I'm not sure exactly where you're coming with that. I think that with some Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction you would be a star. *That's the Warren Bros. for you.*
