Old Tennessee Christmas at Travellers Rest

Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum is celebrating the holidays in 1830's fashion with their Old Tennessee Christmas celebration and are inviting the public to come celebrate with them on December 5th from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Visitors can join in on Judge Overton's Christmas party, meet a host of characters, participate in the traditional Christmas celebrations sing Christmas carols, enjoy tasty holiday treats and learn how the Christmas traditions of today are rooted in the past.

Cost of admission is $5.00 for everyone ages 5 and above (under 5 is free) and it includes a living history tour, access to the outbuildings & grounds, and various holiday activities. Reservations are recommended but not required.

Nashville's 57th Annual Christmas Parade (2009)

The 57th annual Nashville Christmas Parade will kick-off in downtown Nashville on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The festivities begin with Mayor Karl Dean lighting the Nashville Christmas Tree at the Public Square (2nd Ave. & Union) with the parade following.
The Parade will start at the intersection of Broadway & 6th (in front of the Nashville Arena) and will continue through Nashville's historic downtown, finishing up at LP Field. (details)

Brenda Lee & Amy Grant Rockin around Lipscomb

Lipscomb University will be "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," on December 1st, as famed '50s and '60s singer Brenda Lee joins in on the 5th Annual Lighting of the Green concert. Amy Grant will be hosting this FREE outdoor holiday concert in the Allen Arena Mall. Other local celebs and performers set to take part in the concert include Guy Penrod, Buddy Greene, Annie Moses Band, Lelan Statom, Sterling Gittens and the Lipscomb student choruses.

The concert kicks off at 5:30pm but you need to get there early, especially if you're bringing the kids, because they are also offering free photo sessions with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Lipscomb's Bennett Campus Center and an hour after (4:30pm) they will be offering free hot chocolate and cookies on the Allen Arena mall.

Insider Tips:
Take the Challenge - This event is also serving as a collection event for the Second Harvest Food Bank's Feeding Hope Challenge so make sure to bring a couple of cans of food.

Feeding the Multitudes - Other food & drinks will also be available, for purchase, in the Bennett Campus Center from Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Blue Coast Burrito, and Pizza Hut.

Need a Ride home? Call "Tow to Go" this Holiday Season

To encourage safe rides home this holiday season, AAA Auto Club South, the Governor's Highway Safety Office and Budweiser have teamed up, once again, to offer the "Tow to Go" program that gives adults, who choose to drink alcoholic beverages, a free ride home as well as a free tow of their vehicle too.

"Tow to Go" is very simple to use. Adults who need a ride home from bars or restaurants can simply call 1-800-AAA-HELP. AAA will dispatch a local tow truck that will take both the driver and the vehicle home, free of charge. This service is available to everyone -- both AAA members and non-members.This service is offered several times throughout the year, including Nashville's Holiday Season that runs from Thanksgiving Day until January 1st.

Trinkets & Treasures - It's all Dolly!

Dolly Parton's Trinkets & Treasures opened this week in Nashville, specifically in the Historic 2nd Avenue District. You can't miss it because it's the only pink, yellow, red, blue, green and purple building on 2nd Avenue situated right next to the Wildhorse Saloon with Dolly's music coming from it.
The new retail store is offering a ton of Dolly items for all of her fans that includes T-shirts, Jewelry, hats and more. Fans will also be able to listen too and buy plenty of Dolly music too.
Store hours are currently from 10am to 8pm - Sunday through Friday and on Saturday they will be open 2 hours later - till from 10am to 10pm.

Bass Pro Shop Santa Wonderland - Offers Plenty of Good Ole FREE Fun

There is a ton of other FREE fun events going on at the Santa's Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops this season It includes checking out and playing around with some old-time model trains, slot car racing, remote control cars, a Red Ryder laser arcade, a Nerf-type soft gun range, The Strike bass fishing game and activity tables where you can color and write a letter to Santa.
Santa will be in residence there too and you can get a free 4 x 6 photo with him and his reindeer from 5pm to 8pm Monday through Friday, Saturday's 10am to 9pm and Sunday's noon to 5pm. Don't forget to grab a Bass Pass if the line is long it will give you your own appointment time with Santa.

If that's not enough fun, there's more, because each Saturday and Sunday from now November 28th through December 20th, they will also be offering a different craft activity for the kids in their the Santa Wonderland from 12 noon to 5pm.

November 28th - 29th Craft is creating a unique Santa ornament out of a fishing bobber
December 5th - 6th Craft is constructing a fun reindeer hat fit for Rudolph himself
December 12th - 13th Craft is changing a candy cane into a reindeer
December 19th - 20th Craft is decorating cookies for Santa
