Tennessee Outlaws Texting while Driving

Wednesday July 1, 2009
It's official, Tennessee is the tenth state to outlaw texting while driving. Governor Bredesen signed the bill into law that prohibits drivers from sending or receiving text messages while behind the wheel. The law does however include some exemptions to emergency and similar officials as long as they are performing their duties.

What happens if you get caught texting while driving?
You will be fined $50 and cited for a non-moving traffic violation, but you will not get any points added to your driving record.
