Sunday June 21, 2009
The Nashville Fourth of July celebration in Nashville is ranked as one of the best firework displays in the nation and normally draws well over 100,000 to Riverfront Park.
Over the last several years it has been just as spectacular and visitors in 2009 (this year) can expect nothing less with an incredible evening of free entertainment, fun, and fireworks.
Music City definitely lives up to its name on the 4th of July with the Music City July 4th Spectacular.

-The all-day event kicks off at noon with the opening of the Family Zone which includes a variety a variety of food vendors.
-Followed by a Pre-show live music that takes place on the riverfront at starting at 3pm.
-The official two-hour concert normally kicks off at around 7:00pm with the National Anthem, followed by musical performances along with the Grammy-nominated Nashville Symphony, which provides music for both the performers and the fireworks.
-The thrilling fireworks display, begins normally just after 9:00pm (usually at 9:25) and features the Nashville Symphony in live performances of patriotic and classical favorites.

Set to Perform (so far) in 2009 are:
Wynonna Judd
The Grascals

I’m going to be in Nashville over the 4th of July weekend and want to come downtown for the fireworks but I’m concerned about traffic and parking. Is this a major problem for this event? Suggestions?

June 21, 2009 at 8:18 am
(2) Jan says:

You can avoid parking altogether if you take Music City Star (train) but if you’re driving in I’d suggest parking at LP Field (lots E & F) or any of the downtown parking lots. My favorite is the Public Library parking lot (across the street from the convention center)
Yes, if you are not familiar with downtown parking it can be rough – the earlier you get there the better.

The Holiday Inn Vanderbilt has rooms available for $89 per night and offers free parking and a shuttle. E-mail me for more info.

(15) Jan says:

I just love the zoo and anything it does, so I guess you will have to judge for yourself ;o)

Hmm I would see if the folks at the Sheraton would let you view the fireworks from the top floor of their building- it used to be a restaurant bu think that it’s just used for private parties now. It wouldn’t to hurt to ask (nicely)

(17) Keith Hinton says:

If you park at LP Field can you watch fireworks from that side of the river or do folks use the Shelby St. pedestrian bridge to walk over to downtown? This has been very helpful to someone coming in from out of town…glad I found it. Thanks.

June 30, 2009 at 12:07 pm
(18) Jan says:

You can do either, but all of the fun is walking across the Shelby Bridge into the downtown area :)

Amanda,
I’m sorry, but I can’t condone you breaking policy and it would be remiss of me to not state again that they have a no cooler policy.

No, coolers will not be allowed in the park.
