Wave Country Opens!

Thursday May 21, 2009
Metro Parks’ popular Wave Country (photos) opens for the 2009 summer season on Saturday, May 23rd. Memorial Day weekend traditionally marks the beginning of summer fun at Nashville’s only wave-action pool.
The city’s most popular pool generates waves that can be ridden, or enjoyed from the shallows as they lap at the feet. Inflated floats are available for free on a first come first served basis and there is a break in the waves every few minutes to allow for calm waters as well.
For more information go to www.wavecountry.org.

I went to Wave Country last year(2008)in August.I was initially going to a football game and on the drive back to Memphis me and my date decided to give it a try. We had a marvelous time. If a family wanted to pack a picnic and cool off on a hot summer day Wave Country is the place to be!

Parking is free. Beginning Saturday, May 23rd, the park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mondays – Thursdays; 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays; and, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.

The Two Rivers Golf Course, a popular and well maintained municipal course, is across the street. There is also a Frisbee disc golf course in the park, a playground, several picnic shelters, and a beautiful section of the Stones River Greenway.

The popular Metro Skate Park shares the parking lot with Wave Country. It features both street elements and bowls for skateboards, in-line skates, and BMX bikes. There is no admission charge for the park, but helmets are required and pads are strongly recommended.

Wave Country is located at 2320 Two Rivers Parkway, just off Briley Parkway near the Opryland Hotel. Visit http://www.wavecountry.org for more information.
