Why not Fred Thompson as a Presidential candidate?? Certainly his political record is no worse and most probably even better, than that of some of the other Republican candidates.

Fred Thompson established a preliminary campaign committee in Nashville on Friday and it looks like he will make an announcement sometime in early July.

2 things:

1. I get the feeling that this campaign is not so much for Fred as it is a wish for someone, anyone, from Tennessee.

2. The guy is an actor. The last time we had one of those was Reagan.

There is a saying about actors and politics:

“It takes a really good actor to convince people they are valued as they are being hauled to a landfill.”
