NASHVILLE ARTIST GUILD CELEBRATES 55TH ANNIVERSARY WITH EXHIBITION OF NEW
WORKS AT LEQUIRE GALLERY
Celebrating 55 years of service to the arts, the Nashville Artist Guild will hold an exhibition of new works at LeQuire Gallery, 4304 Charlotte Avenue, October 29 - November 12, 2005. An opening reception with the artists will be held on Saturday, October 29, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
According to Nashville Artist Guild President Dawn Hale, the title of this exhibition is Art Without Apology. She further states, "We wanted to select a theme that would inspire the Nashville Artist Guild members to create their finest original art for the LeQuire Gallery and at the same time present to the public a true representation of the strength and vibrancy of visual arts in Nashville. We felt that the title Art Without Apology achieved both goals".
Elizabeth Cave, Director of LeQuire Gallery, recognized the Guild's rich history and strong ties to the visual arts in Nashville saying, "We're pleased to have the opportunity to host this anniversary show and excited by both the strength and diversity of the work it represents."
Participating artists include: Rosanne Awbrey, Jan Batts, Lillie Mae Bond, Marilyn Brisbois, Marion Broquist, Anne Carothers, Mitchell Chamberlain, Beulah M. T. Coleman, Nikki Danby, Leslie McCallen Gilbert, Scott Giles, Dawn Hale, Toni Dranes Hooper, Garry Hornbuckle, Wyma Hornbuckle, Mildred Jarrett, Erin Stukey Johnson, Vinci Kolodziejski, Svetlana Kovalkova-McKenna, Louise LeQuire, Edie Maney, Christine Parachek Marshall, Mary Field Neville, Olivia Newman, Kelly O'Neill, Jairo Prado, Ginna Priest, Lori Putnam, Margo Sebelist, Jamaal Sheats, Mimi Walsh, Tom Walton, Wattana Wattanapun, Suzanne Gaudette Way, Erica Well, Ken White, Carol Wiel, and Caryl Witt.
The Nashville Artist Guild was founded in 1950 by area art educators and professional visual artists. During its 55 year history, the membership roster has included such well known artists as Puryear Mims, Walter Sharp, Joseph Van Sickle, Philip Perkins, Red Grooms, Louise LeQuire, Bill Johnson and Greg Ridley. Today, as Nashville's oldest and only juried professional visual arts organization, the Guild represents a broad range of cultural, ethnic and artistic diversity in its continuing efforts to promote awareness, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts.
