Metro Health Department Opens Flu Shot Clinics October 24

Tuesday October 11, 2005
Metro Health Department officials today announced they will open their Fast Track Flu Shot clinic October 24, offering flu shots to the general public.
The Health Department will offer flu shots for a $10 fee (Medicare Part B is accepted). Flu shots will be available at the Health Department’s Fast Track Clinic from 8 a.m. –3 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Lentz Public Health Center auditorium. The Lentz Public Health Center is located at 311 23rd Avenue North. Flu shots are offered on a walk-in basis.
The Health Department recommends those who are 65 years of age and over, and those who have chronic disease should get a flu shot. The best available protection against influenza during the flu season is to get a flu shot.
The health department will also offer the Pneumococcal Polysaccharide (Pneumonia) vaccine. The health department recommends those with chronic disease and those over 65 years of age get the Pneumococcal vaccine in addition to the flu shot. The Pneumococcal vaccine is offered for $15 (Medicare Part B accepted).
For more information and update on flu shots call the Health Department’s flu shot hotline at 340-2100 for a recorded message, or visit our website at healthweb.nashville.gov (please note there is no “www” in our web address).
